June/July

Locusts, Wrigley Field, Lake Michigan, 5th/6th grade girls' softball, and the Blue Angels screaming overhead list only a few of the details from our trip to Traverse City, Michigan. The adventure began at Chicago's famous Navy Pier for one night. Then we proceeded north a bit to Clark street to see the home of the Cubs and have lunch. There were so many sights to see, so much history to experience, we could've stayed in Chicago for a week at least.

Then, by car we drove 6 hours to North Michigan, the home of Christine, Dave, Maddy, Lily and Maia Ober. Since the 4th of July is the wonderful Cherry Festival, there was so much to do. The kids spent time in the lake playing, enjoying carnival rides, and just having fun together. We jam-packed 6 days of fun with launching rockets (Ashlyn knows pretty well what rockets are now, and constantly says "Where it go-- rocket?") That question was never answered as the two rockets still remain at large in the Ober neighborhood.
Of course, the LeBleu's love to eat, so we never stopped consuming restaurant meals as well as home-cooked, barbecued ones. The kids had their share of candy and snacks while they stayed in the camper during the night.

Ash was quick to warm up to everyone, pronouncing Maia's name the best as "Iya." She would take turns with each girl just running laps around the house. It was quite entertaining for the adults to sit and watch.

Our 4th of July festivities included a surprise water attack on Dave and Matt from the rest of us. (While they were golfing, Lily, Maia and I prepared the ambush with 30+ water balloons.) Additionally, we had our 1st annual Ober-Pedersen softball game. I'm not sure of the final score, maybe a tie 6-6? Dave hurt his shoulder, Christine sprained an ankle, and Matt has a sore from the water fight.

IT WAS A GREAT TIME! The Midwest is beautiful--humidity, flat terrain, lakes/rivers galore. Thank for inviting us, Obers!!

Fun at the beach!!

Sprinkler time!

This picture marks Lane's final day of 6th grade, final day at West Union Elementary. (The Paparazzi surrounding him, he was not willing to allow pictures.) The 6th grade send off party was bowling, video games, a barbecue, and a volleyball game at the end. Needless to say, he is pretty excited about middle school (we are not!!)

A trip to the Oregon Zoo.

Ash on the go around the house!! Catch her if you can!

A baseball game of Lane's. They are headed to state next week. Yay!!

Our home in Hillsboro, Oregon.
