The bulbs have surfaced with some already in bloom. I can't believe spring is almost here! That's right, next we will lose an hour of our oh-so-valuable time. But, with spring, comes some beautiful changes, that's for sure.
A smarty-pants kid thinking he is much older, Lane will turn 11 at then end of April. Pre-adolescence has already presented such fun challenges--girls calling, deodorant, semi-contumacious behaviors, etc. What can be more rewarding than parenting, I often ask myself. With basketball almost finished, baseball will soon be in full swing (...good pun, huh?) All of his sports are so fun to watch, although quite time-consuming, and we know how bored we would be without it. At school, he excels as well. He just passed state tests for reading and math--his score "exceeds" the standard. We are very proud.
Ashlyn is also in full bloom, so busy rolling over and scooting around in circles on her belly. She finds most facial expressions and animated words pretty funny and giggles like crazy. She, too, has quite the social life--her friends all greet her and are so excited when she arrives at daycare. Well-adjusted, she consumes several bottles and eats her cereal with bananas everyday. We are impressed with how well she's doing. Two weeks ago, she had her 6-month appointment and weighed in at a feather-like 23.9 lbs., 30 inches., and well-proportioned (large) head size. Her scores are off the charts, seriously, as she's the size of a normal 15-month old. (Will Pat Summit still be coaching in 18 years?)
That's the update on the family. We cherish each and every day, thankful for our jobs, our family, good health, and so much more (that would take me hours to list).
