August Announcements

Yes, August arrived, and I was a little disappointed at how quickly it all happened. August indicates the purgatory before the dreaded inferno known as "Back to School." No, it's really not so bad once it gets started, but is there really anything better than summer? Hiking in the Oregon wilderness, a trip to Kah-nee-ta for a few days, basketball camp, barbecues, visits from out-of-town friends/family, the Oregon Brew Fest, the arrival of several new babies, etc. Truly life for a teacher during the summer is great!
July finished strong with the purchase of a new toddler backpack which we tested out the very next day. Wait, did I say "we"? It was really Matt that carried Ashlyn's 30 lbs. of sweetness for almost 6 miles. We've enjoyed visits from Darcy from Cali, Ronda from Montana, and excitedly anticipate family coming to town for the birthday celebration this weekend. Yes, Matt has been working very hard this summer getting ready for all of those pesky teachers who will be returning in a few weeks, but I think we've managed to fill his off time with some fun activities as well: concerts in the park, walks to the park, our 4th Anniversary and so much more!
With only a few weeks of joyous freedom remaining, I plan to soak up every ounce of goodness it has to offer-- sunbathing, taking walks with Ashlyn, movies and basketball with Lane, jogging, reading, and also a slight bit of dabbling with a scrapbook. I think I've covered our vast list of fun times, so stay tuned for the birthday update next week.
